Surprise!

Last weekend I flew to San Diego to see Erin. It was a surprise for her 30 birthday...couldn't let her spend the big one alone (although she wouldn't have been with all her great friends).

It was a fun-filled weekend...packed with things to do and see. Woke up on Friday to run some errands and work out. Then it was off to the bars to celebrate with all of Erin's great friends.

Saturday began with a lecture on modern architecture, lunch, then sailing and a yummy Italian dinner.

Sunday we went to church, watched the football games, and went to a Social Distortion concert.

Sadly, Monday I headed home. All in all it was a great weekend!

What I learned while away - it's pretty sad when your older sister leads a lifestyle which makes you feel old, catholic ministers are among many who can make a pretty compelling argument to register to vote, you shouldn't put too much stake in a presentation by someone who (while entertaining) contradicts themselves, some people are just really nice, happiness is a state of mind.

Yahtzee!

So, how lame are we? A Monday night and Aaron and I are playing Yahtzee. We have just come to except the fact that we are old, dorks! But, I ask you...what happened to good old fashion family fun like this?
The recent trip to Atlanta was fun. Learned all about Transportation Conformity as well as got to attend a Thrashers hockey game with old friends - Jennie and Dave. But, alas I am glad to be home.

This is what Aaron and I bought with some of our Home Depot gift cards that family gave to us for Christmas. A much needed fire extinguisher, gardening tools, and rechargeable batteries.

Getting ready for the upcoming primaries in the Palmetto State. Should be a close race on both the Democratic and Republic sides - will definitely be interesting, watching the results come in.

We had a fabulous time in Sedona and Michigan with family and friends. The travel went well and the time spent with one another was very relaxing and fun! Mom and Dad and Leigh have posted some great pics that I won't repeat here. Some of the more notable events were the visit to the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, the Red Rocks, Monopoly, Cooking, Games, and time spent with one another. Arizona is truly beautiful!

Michigan was also fun. It even snowed (quite a bit actually with nearly 1.5 feet of snow falling in southern Michigan) while we were there - enough to even make a snow man. We got to see all the Masons and Collins' and had a great time visiting, catching up, and ringing in the new year.

My traveling mantra for Aaron was - if it isn't "nice, necessary, or appropriate it shouldn't be said" - words to live by indeed! Despite all the great time had by all, it was nice to return home and sleep in our own bed. Although it was quickly back to work and very little sleep.

I am now in Atlanta for work and Aaron is back to the daily grind and Maeve's list.

P.S. I finally finished Atlas Shrugged and am on to the next book on the list - although first a brief interlude with Barbara Kingsolver's 'Small Wonder.' I am only 42 pages in and it is fabulous. I highly recommend it!
