Down on the Farm

So we woke up this morning after our great night out on the town to a breakfast of McDonald's and Krispy Kremes! After breakfast Kendall and I hung out poolside. It was a perfect time to let her poor little bum air out. She has the worst diaper rash I have ever seen! I actually spent all day on Friday with her after being called to pick her up from school. After picking her up from school we proceeded straight to the doctor's only to find out that something is evidently going around. We picked up some meds and then headed home. Our friend Brooks arrived at our place on Friday around dinner time for a weekend visit.

We were able to get our friends the Dillons to babysit for Kendall on short notice so that we could go out to watch our favorite band play on Friday night.

After breakfast this morning, we headed out to Harmon's Tree Farm for some pumpkins and a small animal farm. Here are Kendall and Brooks posing for a picture down on the farm.

Kendall enjoys a book with Brooks. Can you believe he had never heard "Going on a Bear Hunt" !?!?! And, he's a 3rd grade teacher!
Kendall then took her turn and read us the "Wheels on the Bus." So darn smart!

Our Big Girl

So Kendall is now in the two year old room at daycare. After having to sign like the 15th incident report for someone biting her, we decided enough was enough! We talked to the administration and near the end of the 30 minute long conversation in which it became somewhat evident that they wouldn't be evicting the other children. Don't get me wrong, I do feel for the parents on the other side of this. How do you stop a small child - who can't yet communicate or fully even comprehend that biting is bad.

Near the end of the conversation, we asked about what would be the end all be all. In that vain we asked about whether we could move Kendall or the biters (there are two) to rectify the situation. They then asked about whether we thought she was ready for a move. We agreed that intellectually we thought she was, but that socialy she may not be. They agreed to evaluate her and after a successful dry run in the 2 year old room, we learned that she will be moved permanently. So far, so good. She is doing a great job. The reports are good and she is learning a lot. They have a 'letter of the day' and do lots of art projects, singing, and reading.

Oktoberfest

On Saturday we took in the Oktoberfest parade in Lexington. Kendall had a great time. She even scored a few dum dums...
They she held on to for dear life.

That afternoon we decided to hit the Riverbanks Zoo. The turtle came right up to Kendall.
Hard to tell here, but she is pointing out the baby giraffes.
As is always the case, the aquarium was her favorite part - especially the sharks.

Big Girl

So it was a bit unexpected and we didn't really need it, but I couldn't resist. We bought Kendall her very own big girl bed today. We saw this on Craig's List a week or so again and asked the lady if she would take a bit less. She emailed yesterday and we settled on a price. We got it home today and cleaned it up and she loves it! We put it in the guest room and we definitely need to rearrange, but we were just too excited to wait on all that.
Here she is poking her head through the sun roof. So darn cute!
I have tomorrow off and not sure yet whether I will spend the whole day with Kendall or take her to daycare for a bit. Either way she has a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. Excited to talk to the doctor about her new bed, potty training, and find out how much she has grown. Don't know for sure, but hoping she won't need shots.

She is definitely growing and changing a lot. She is doing well at daycare. She keeps getting bitten (apparently by the same little bugger who bites just her and totally unprovoked), so they will talk to his parents about the situation. Kendall just lets it roll off her back, never crying and never retaliating - kinder than her momma. Apparently, she is quite the little mother at daycare - always taking care of the other kids and even picking one of the smaller girls up and calling her 'her baby.'

She's really added to her vocabulary too. Some of the new words we can remember are: flag (she points them all out on the way to school every morning), more, hello (which she says in sort of an English accent), bat (which she actually pronounces 'babt'), bus, and cheese (which is her favorite thing to eat - just like her momma).

In other news, we bought our tickets home for Christmas. We'll be able to see Aunt Erin too, who is also able to fly home. Hopefully, the new baby will cooperate and arrive on, or even early. It will be an interesting trip home with a toddler and newborn!

We also just learned today that Grm Rose, Gpa Bob, Aunt Leigh and new baby Mateo are coming in late October for Halloween. And, the following weekend, Uncle Adam, Grammy, and Gpa Rick come for the USC/Arkansas game. Yay!

Labor Day

Grammy and Grandpa Rick flew to SC this weekend. They arrived on Saturday and only stayed till Monday, but it was a nice visit.
It was beautiful so we spent most of the weekend outside. Here is Kendall moving dirt from the garden to her bucket in her house. Bless her heart she tried so hard, but by the time she made it over to her bucket she lost nearly all the sand on her shovel.
She has mastered the slide...
and the steps.
And here she is driving her car.
We had a nice weekend. We took in a lot of good food, watched some football, and spent some time out in the man shed. Aaron and his mom even fixed the problem with the jukebox - it had been cutting off each song prematurely. But, with a twist of the screw it now plays the entire song! I have to say it is my favorite addition to the man shed and we put it to good use dancing all around.
We also got a surprise visit from our old friend Brooks who happened to be in town and decided to spend Sunday night with us. Monday we enjoyed the 3rd annual pig pickin' at the Dollar's new home in Wagener. It was a great time with great friends.

Tiny Dancer

We've really slacked in terms of capturing things on video lately. It seems every time we pull out the camera she stops what she is doing. I was able to snap this quick video of her dancing with Daddy. She loves to dance!
