Give a Hoot!

I finally finished my latest book on the reading list. Hoot by Carl Hiaasen.

This was suggested to me by Aaron as this is one he reads to his kids. He thought it would be right up my tree-hugging alley. It was. I thought it was very cute and very inspirational. Proof positive that you don't have to be an adult to make a difference. On the contrary, I would even go as far as to say that most adults are too busy to be bothered by such trivia things as the environment and protecting a little band of owls.

This book was a great story about a kid who stumbles upon a construction site that happens to be home to an endangered type of burrowing owl. The story is a shining example of how a little bit of research can yield significant results that in the end can alter a decision. A good message.

Now, we'll have to rent the movie...

Happy Fourth of July

So far it's been a great weekend. I had Friday off, so Thursday night we went to a Columbia Blowfish game. They played the University of South Carolina Alumni with a fireworks display after. Here are a few pics.Here is blowie and blowie junior doing their dance to "Jump On It."

Friday we headed to Gilbert for the Lexington County Peach Festival. We took the bike and it was a great day for a ride.

It was really hot, so we didn't stay too long...just enough to see the parade and visit our friend Dollar and Heather's booth where they were selling crafts and "Bear Bottom Honey."

Dollar makes his own honey from several hives on his farm. Friday night we we went to the Weidners for game night.

Saturday I had to work at TJ and Aaron had to start on his exam. Aaron made ribs, which were yummy!

Aaron is making me breakfast as we speak...so Sunday is starting out nice too!
