Friday Fun

Well, it has been awhile since my last post. The week spent in jury duty was miserable! It was enlightening and emotionally draining all at the same time. We were not sequestered, but did wind up in deliberation until about 11 p.m. on Thursday night. As a result, I felt a little fun time was in order. So...we packed up on Friday morning and headed to Riverbanks Zoo for the free Friday promotion.
Here are a few of the pictures...

Here are some cute videos as well.

The Birthday Girl

Kendall snags some girl scout cookies for a birthday treat.

Aaron helps Kendall open a birthday card.

Ms. Page got Kendall this totally adorable hat for her birthday.Mom and Erin relaxing. Just chilling in the perfect weather. We were so glad to have so many great friends and family to help us celebrate on Sunday.
Happy Birthday baby Girl. We love you!

Here we are singing Happy Birthday. Despite making Kendall this separate little cake for her to enjoy she barely dug in.

On Monday mom, Erin, and I all went to a jewelry party for some girl time. Today I headed back to work while Gma and Gpa left this afternoon. I returned home today after work to find Kendall stepping out. Truth be told, while I was told that she technically took a few steps on Sunday, this is the first I saw of it. Watch out world!

Bag of Tricks

Kendall has developed several new ingenious and incredibly adorable tricks as of late. They include:
1) She now oinks when you ask her what sound a piggy makes - actually truth be told she makes no sound, rather she makes the face that accompanies an oink.
2) She pretends to crack open and drink a pop can when you place one in front of her.
3) She holds her nose when daddy comes home from work and takes off his shoes - P.U.!
4) She now stands up on her own for seconds at a time.
5) She loves on her baby doll. She is particular fond of the 'triple hug.'
6) We think she may have said her first word - banana...it is actually more like 'ba-la-la.'

Kendall reaches for a cold one after a hard day's work.

"Who Me?"

In other news, I was selected for Jury Duty on Monday morning so for the last few days have had the joy of fulfilling my civic duty. I was not, and am not at all happy about it, but it has been a learning process and very 'eye-opening' to say the least. This weekend we head to the beach (this time Edisto Island, SC) to hang with Gma/Gpa Redmond and Great Gma Alice. I have a feeling a mini vacation will be awesome after this week!

Oh, Aaron also received some good news last week...he will be moved back down to 5th grade next year - although he will be in a new school, he is back to teaching familiar curriculum which will hopefully amount to less time spent lesson planning.

Here is a cute video of Kendall getting down to some Guns and Roses.

Down by the Sea

Well I convinced Aaron to take the day off of work on Friday and after picking up Erin's friend Rachel (who flew in from San Diego for Aunt Erin's birthday) we headed to the beach for the weekend. Here we are playing the newest game Telestrations which is kind of a cross between telephone and pictionary...lots of fun.Later we headed out to eat at Bonefish. After dinner, Gma graciously offered to babysit Kendall so that the rest of us could go out for a few drinks. We started the night off at the Hard Rock Cafe and ended at the Blarney Stone (both part of Broadway at the Beach). While at the Blarney Stone we took in a local Columbia band, Tokyo Joe. A good time was had by all. The weather was terrible on Saturday, with rain and freezing cold temps. Aaron, Kendall, and Gpa Bob did manage to make it to the aquarium while mom and I went shopping at the outlet mall. Afterwards we met up for dinner at Margaritaville.

On Sunday we checked out of the time share and headed to the gospel brunch at the House of Blues. Kendall loved the music. After brunch we said our goodbyes and headed home, while Gma and Gpa headed to Florida in search of warmer weather.
On Monday Aaron headed back to work while the ladies went to lunch and spend some time shopping in five points. It was a great weekend!

The old man and the sea...

Daddy turned 30 this year and while his birthday started off bad (he had a rotten day at school), we tried to make up for it with some fun...Here is Kendall helping Daddy open his bday present.Gma and Gpa Redmond arrived on Friday to help celebrate and to get out of the cold for a spell. While here we made pasties...a Redmond super bowl tradition courtesy of their time in the U.P. It was a short visit as they then headed to Myrtle Beach for the week.

We later celebrated some more with friends at the bowling alley.
DeSean and Ms. Lisa add the bowling alley.Ms. Maddie Dollar joined in the fun...so cute!Aunt Erin celebrates with a beer.
Mr. Dollar goes for a strike.

Just a few days later...after picking up Aunt Erin's friend Rachel we head to the shore (Myrtle Beach) to join Gma and Gpa for some fun in the sun...
