New Beginnings

The new car - a 2008 Scion xD. Think I am going to like it. I even programed the audio system to say "welcome maeve" when I start it up.

We have a ton of green beans from the garden - can't wait to eat em.

Also have green peppers and zuccini. Kendall picked up the zuccini and started singing into it tonight - so cute.

Here we are at Sonic - we went there for dinner and icecream on our first family bike ride of the season. Avery is getting big as you can see.

Kendall enjoyed the icecream. The only way she would eat her hotdog is if we gave her bites of icecream in between.

Avery tries peas.Matching pjs.

Bittersweet

So it is official...the focus is dead! It was a great little car -the first I bought myself (with the help of mom/dad). I love(d) it - it was cute and practical.

Last week I was in a car accident...minding my own buisness on the way home from work and a kid fails to yield and I plow into him. Fortunately the kids weren't with me and I wasn't hurt. It was scary. I haven't been in an accident since I was 16 - when ironically I was the 'kid' who failed to yield and plowed into the other car.

We've been in a rental for awhile and I just heard back from the insurance company yesterday that the focus will in fact be totalled. We got a good price for it - much more than I thought it was going to be worth. We have enough to pay off Aaron's truck (which will leave us with only one car payment) and even with a little left over for a down payment!

Today we go test driving as Ms. Cindy has offered to watch the girls. I have been obsessing lately about what to get to replace the focus. Do we go bigger or opt for better gas mileage? We'll see. We only have the rental (paid for by insurance) up through Wednesday, so we need to get to work. Can I turn in my 'adult' card? I don't like all this responsibility and decision-making.

Wish us luck. RIP ford focus -- we had a good ride!

Giggles

Here is Kendall making Avery laugh. It seems lately I find myself holding Avery and for no apparent reason (other than her sister is being silly) she will bust out in laughter.

Mothers Day Part 2

Avery and I started the morning of right. Little miss thing had me up at 6:30 a.m., but all was well when I sat down to my coffee, cinnamon roll, and fruit salad. Kendall and daddy enjoyed sleeping in till about 8:30.

After nap time we headed to the zoo.
My little cupcake.

In the aquarium - Kendall's favorite part of the zoo.

This one is for you Great Gpa Wayne...milking the cow with daddy. Did you ever think you would see this?

Opening my goodie bag of home-made mother's day presents from Kendall that she worked hard on making all week at school.

Prior to the zoo, I got a mani-pedi thanks to daddy. It was great!

Mothers Day 2011

Had the first bike ride of the season with Kendall today...just a little mommy-daughter time. We headed to the farmers market, shoe shopping, and then ice cream sundaes before heading home. We had a blast!

A few little funny stories from Kendall...

1) We are getting dressed for school one morning and she is playing with her 'boobies.' I ask her what she is doing and she responds, 'opening my boobies.' I explain that boobies can't be opened. I guess she has seen me pump one too many times.

2) I ask her if she is pooping and she says 'no' - like she always does. I ask her to go to the potty, saying 'you don't want to stand in it.' She leaves the room and I hear her chanting - 'I standing, I standing.' I go to find her - only to see her standing in front of the little potty with her shorts around her legs...I explain that girls can't go to the potty that way. I guess she sees a little too much of the boys going potty in her new room at school.

Funny. Looking forward to Mothers Day tomorrow. Kendall has now taking to calling me 'mom' sometimes - not mamma or mommy. This is a little sad.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there - love ya!

Kids Day

Don't have too many pictures of things lately as I haven't been good about taking the camera along. As for pictures of the Mason visit, we sadly don't have any - I was at work and Aaron didn't take the camera along anywhere they went.

Here are a few shots of Lexington Kids Day last weekend. Not many here either given the battery died about 10 minutes into arriving. The slide didn't go over too well, but the jumping house did...so well in fact that I had to go in after her.

Enjoying her first snow cone.

A shot of the girls in the tub. Kendall has taken to 'swimming' like a mermaid in the tub and Avery just loves to watch her big sister.

The garden is coming along nicely. I have to keep Kendall from eating the beans.

Not much else to report. We picked up a bike from Craig's list for Aaron to use this summer with the girls. A friend at work offered to give it a tune up so we haven't yet had a chance to go for our first ride of the season. Hopefully soon.
