The South Carolina State Fair

The South Carolina State Fair took place last week, so we decided we had to attend. We ordered our tickets online and decided to go after work on Wednesday. Here we are on the way out stopping to take a picture.

Here is Aaron being silly...he claims he is going to hack into my blog account and remove this picture, but I say if he is going to be difficult when trying to take pictures - the end product is fair game. It was a self portrait so poor Kendall was accidentally cut out :(

We visited the many barns and ate a ton (nachos, corn dogs, elephant ears, french fries, candy, pizza, and Mountain Dew). Here is Kendall on the scale in the ag barn. Not sure if you can tell, but she tipped the scales at 22 pounds!

On Thursday our old friend Brooks surprised us with a visit to Columbia. We went out to dinner on Thursday night and then all attended a baby shower on Friday night for one of Aaron's coworkers. They will welcome their first baby girl, Madelyn in mid-December. It was a Halloween shower. As you can see he went as the cook and she and Madelyn went at the cupcake.

I refurbished my old girl scout badge, Kendall went as a strawberry (but, quickly lost her costume as it got really hot), Aunt Erin went as June Cleaver, Brooks as a rocker, and Aaron was a poor sport and didn't dress up at all. We played silly games and Erin was the winner - guessing the size of Heather's belly.

Brooks won the other contest, by drinking the punch out of the bottle quickest.

On Saturday and Sunday we took in football - as usual. I also attempted to buy a rain barrel on Saturday morning, but wasn't willing to wait in the huge line! However, my great friend Megan, who was helping at the event, offered to buy one for me and even dropped it off on her way home. I was also able to meet an old friend who was in town for the weekend for coffee this morning. It was really nice to catch up with her.

Mom, Dad, Gma Alice, Aunt Leighanne, and Peter will all arrive in Myrtle Beach tomorrow morning. We can't wait to see them! I've been busy cooking and cleaning so that we have lots of yummy treats and won't have to worry about anything else but having fun while they are here.

Pig Out

Last week was busy all around. I came home from work one day to find that Aunt Erin had completely rearranged our living room furniture...I think she needs a raise.

We decided on Thursday that it was high time we carved our pumpkins, so we began that process. But, we didn't get too far as it was time for Kendall's bath. She wasn't really feeling the fun.

We began this past weekend with an Oktoberfest gathering at our house. We purchased several six packs to try and share. Turns out no one else likes Smithwicks and Ruination wasn't that big a hit either. But, we had lots of fun eating our strudel, sauer kraut and beer brats. Kendall even dressed for the event in her laderhosen. We just laid around on Saturday and enjoyed watching football. On Sunday we took in a free concert in Batesburg-Leesville. It was a bit chilly, but we had a great time listening to our favorite local band, Lundy play at the amphitheater. It was a great venue as there were several large bonfires bits, picnic tables, and playground equipment all around. It was just too bad that not more people showed up. We'll include pics of that in the next post.

Monday night we took in more football (of course). Earlier in the day we brought lunch to Aaron at school as he had a professional development day at work and was therefore actual afforded a 30 minute lunch.

We are really looking forward to seeing the Redmonds when they arrive next Monday for a quick few days visit. Hopefully it isn't too cold for them - as we have already turned on the heat here!

It is so cold, we've begun to think about the holidays - Erin thinks that this should be the photo chosen to adorn our holiday card. While I do not agree, it is a classic shot of all the Masons pigging out!

Tomorrow we'll take in the State Fair after work to pig out some more.

Pumpkin Town

Here are Aunt Erin and Kendall at Harmon's tree farm taking in the nice fall day. We each picked out a pumpkin to carve.

Witness all the new diapers...we purchased 15 more large fuzzi bunz from Craig's list...we got each for just over $8 - a steal! Witness the sign from Erin. I woke up to this on my way to work the day of my big presentation. I almost cried. I presented a proposed regulation revision to the Board at work. I was nervous, but it went well and everyone was very supportive both before and after...

...even Aaron. Witness the flowers he bought and had waiting for me when I got home...awe!

Witness the "incentive" circle - hoping to get Kendall to crawl soon. No luck yet, although she twists and stretches as far as she can, she just won't move the legs.

Aunt Erin making Kendall laugh while daddy makes dinner - Swiss steaks and mashed potatoes...yum! Guess what is for dessert...pumpkin snow ball! Ahh, got to love Halloween!

If you are happy and you know it...

Not much to report this weekend. Watched Michigan lose to Michigan State on Saturday. Worked on some special projects for Christmas presents too. On Sunday the Aaerins watched lots of football so Kendall and I escaped to Church.
